    I've uploaded Semiologic 5 RC2, you can grab it at:

    http://wp-pro.semiologic.com/bleeding

    Fixes include:

    • widgets that show unapproved comments
    • error tracking (mysql < 4.1 warnings where relevant, and empty "each entry" panels in particular)
    • misc updates (e.g. simple tags)

    The upgrader has not changed since last time, but nonetheless: As with the previous Sem 5 pre-releases, please give the upgrader a shot. Please note that the upload files step can be very long. don't interrupt it.

    To spare yourself a long upload if you're still running an alpha or a beta, you can upload the upgrader files only via:

    * wp-content/plugins/semiologic/inc
    * wp-content/themes/semiologic/inc
    * wp-content/themes/semiologic/wizards

    and then try wizard / upgrade directly.

    if the upgrader doesn't work -> email denis at mesoconcepts dot com, topic "Sem 5 automated upgrade problem" and I'll look into it asap.

    there is one unresolved issue on my todo list: a handful of older sites are getting upgraded improperly by WordPress (Janet, Alan, E.J.). I'll look into this during the week.

    D.

    PS: don't forget to disable non-Semiologic Pro plugins before upgrading -- at least two users got blank screens because of this.

    PPS: The next webinar and release date are scheduled on the 30th of November.

    PPPS: Note that you can grab the latest docs update at any time by saving your API key. The ones from the features screen are slowly but steadily nearing completion.

    Hi Denis,

    Glad to see you are better and back in action!

    Still something wrong in 5 RC2 with in the Comments Dept.
    I can add name and email but it keeps not allowing me to add a URL always jumping back to the email field.

    Also I am still not sure how it is behaving as far as comment moderation is concerned.
    Still have not received email advising me comment awaiting moderation as per my chosen settings

    I used a different address for 'reply to comment' and also so far nothing...

    Best George

    @Paul and Mike: I think this was due to my use of symbolic links on semiologic.com, it should work fine now.

    @George: I've no issue on my end with the url, can you confirm it? I'll look into the comment notification early next week.

    I tried the 1 click install on 2 sites running RC1 and at the Upgrade step, in FF the browser tried to open admin.php and asks me what program to use, of course I can't and have to abort. In IE, I get the page cannot be displayed error. So I never get to the clean up step or later, and do not know if the site is upgraded. If I take these sites back to the wizard, they offer me to upgrade to RC2 again.

    Upgraded 1 site from RC to RC2 OK. No problem.
    I used regular procedure, not 1 click...

    Denis, I just upgraded through the wizard (from RC1 to RC2) with no apparent problems.

    I must say, though, that it is really disconcerting that the page goes completely white during (or at the conclusion of?) the final step. I turned away momentarily and came back to find that instead of a reassuring indication that it was successful. That happened on the previous wizard-run upgrade too.

    I had the same white page at the end, but by just typing in the regular URL no issue..the sites are working great...my upgrades were RC1 to RC2 if I was not clear.

    I have some high end hosting I use PowerVPS which has plenty of features and capabilities and maybe that is perhaps the reason I am not having any issues?

    Dennis,
    I wanted to know if there is a way to edit the templete pages, the special page and the sales letter page?

    Thanks, glad to see you are up and around again.

    I can't find any docs to tell me - but there is no permalink redirect title in Options. Is there supposed to be? Or has this been phased into something else?

    Thanks - Rick Butts

    @Steve: You can "partially" edit the templates in that you can opt some widgets in or out using their contexts.

    @Rick: Permalink Redirect is built into WP 2.3 :)

    @Rick: Also, visit presentation / API Key, and click the save button. This will trigger a docs update, and we've completed the "Features" docs with Olivia earlier today. Every item under Presentation / Features now has a piece of docs attached to it ("more info" links).

    For the people having problems using the auto upgrader... try disabling all of your plugins first and then upgrade. There is a Disable All Plugins button at the bottom of the plugins page.

    I had problems too upgrading until I disabled my plugins and then the auto upgrader worked prefectly all the way to the end.

    Is the all-plugins-disabler smart so that it remembers what plugins were active prior to engaging it?

    Todd,

    Was going to ask the same thing, I would rather FTP to my server than remember what plugins I had enabled.

    All the plugins bundled with Pro will work fine with the auto-upgrader (as far as we have found). What has been the issue during my troubleshooting of down sites are other plugins that are loaded that break. The biggest issue is that 5.0 comes with WP 2.3.1 and these others plugins need to be upgraded to the 2.3 compatible version. That is why the recommendation. Mike

    I am seeing two issues:

    1. When I create or edit entries, I can only do it in code view, not visual view. I do not use the wysiwig plug-in and I have visual editor checked for the user (me).

    2. Unapproved comments appear in the fuzzy recent comments, but they are not posted to the blog. Should they even appear in the fuzzy recent comments list?

    I reported the fuzzy issue weeks ago and Denis said the issue was fixed in the current RC (RC2). Are you running the latest version?

    fixed in RC4, which I'll upload later today. thanks for reporting the bug.
