My dev site is up and running for those who are interested in peeking at the animal without installing it on their site:

    • user: test
    • pass: test

Note that some features on the above site are disabled for security reasons: plugin screen, users screen, ability to post unfiltered html, and so on. Also, if you peek into the dev site, please be so kind to not change its url or the test user's password.

Please report any bug you spot on my dev site or on your own site in this thread.

    Thanks!
    Denis

    Just found a error

I was working on a 404 page and when I punch in a url that does not exist this error comes up.
BTW this error is on my test site not the test site you put up

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/gefsmith/public_html/diabetes-online-help/wp-content/plugins/sem-seo/sem-seo.php:376) in /home/gefsmith/public_html/diabetes-online-help/wp-content/themes/semiologic/header.php on line 15

Is there any way to set up a simple 404 page as well?

404 error now fixed ! Thankyou

Quick question if I want my own 404 page do I just adjust the one that came with the default templates and add it to the semiologic theme?

nope, you add widgets as necessary.

there's going to be a beta-6 this evening, btw, I'm working on upgrading semiologic.com and fixing bugs as I find them.

lol, I was wondering, recently what could possibly be causing the dev site to output pages in a minute. I've found the culprit upon trying the pages widget and the links widget on the same page:

    Load: 7 queries - 0.158 seconds
    Query: 11 queries - 0.180 seconds
    Display: 257 queries - 22.264 seconds

woot! that is soooo retarded. :D

    Denis,

    Sorry but I am confused.
So to have my own special 404 page I need a widget?

@George: add a text widget, and maybe a tag cloud or the archives widget or the silo map widget, etc. in the 404 "sidebar".

@Paul: regarding your upload issue, could it related to mod_security?

@All: I've just uploaded a beta-6. I've spend the entire day working on performance issues. related widgets, in particular, got a spectacular boost in speed.

@Paul: btw, regarding Dreamhost, have you noticed the VPS functionality? Best I know, what they've set up is quite unique in the industry. I'm not aware of any other host that lets you choose the how large your VPS should be with a slider. :)

mmm, I'm going to upload a beta-7 in a sec, the one I just uploaded doesn't autoinstall the semiologic theme on new site, and I've committed a few more WP 2.5 bug fixes.

I've just updated the beta, to beta-8. Changes since last update are numerous, but mostly of interest to those who are upgrading sites. Basically, I've been using backups from semiologic.com to weed out all sorts of bugs that remained in the upgrade scripts.

I have just updated a new site from 5.02 to 5.5 via the upgade screen in sempro. All went well and the upgrade seems to have worked as it should.
This particular installation has no posts or pages on it - just a bare new install

However, the log in screen only shows a squashed up version of the Wordpress graphic and then when I am inside, there are no graphics showing on the Layout screen (just the outer border with the little red cross - as in image can't be found'). Also on the page/post editor visual tab, there are no graphics along the top of the editor (bold, underline etc). The boxes are there but no icons. On the html tab all is OK.

Any idea what the cause is because I cannot figure it at all. I checked the dev site and everything shows up as it should, so it is nothing to do with my firewall this time.
The only thing I can think of is maybe either a corrupted file during the upgrade or possibly something to do with permissions although they are set as per the 5.02 install which had no problems.

    I have upgraded to 5.5 beta 8 - at http://www.friendsales.com.

I noticed that the comments link is not shown on the entires. if I drill down to an actual entry by clicking the title it does show up. Any reason it doesn't show up on the home page with all entries?

    Best

beta-9 is online. many fixes made it in this one. some wp bug fixes, many little things I've identified while working on semiologic.com, the 404 error handler works better still, and so do searches.

I've also added a completely rewritten Search Reloaded plugin, which is delivering results that are more relevant than ever.

I am finding the tag cloud widget is allowing some tags to extend outside of the column across other sections. Also, could there be more than one tag cloud widget? I can only use one. It might be nice to have more than one for different placement.

This morning, updated to 5.5 beta-9.

A minor issue from the wysiwyg editor. Cannot seem to add blank lines at the bottom of the page. Also cannot add blank lines mid-page so that text is beneath an image, as opposed to flowing around the image on the right.

Another minor issue, when trying to upload an image from local computer using the Add media/Add an Image feature in the editor, get "HTTP error" and "An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later".

Democracy works the same on your dev site as on my blog.... Once you put a widget on a sidebar how do you remove it? There's no remove and drag and drop to the left doesn't work.

And you can't rename the headers for widgets... or at least not with a double click of the widget's name. I've added Democracy to the dev site. Maybe someone can figure it out.

    Rich,
When you click edit on the widget you should see an admin window - whatever you put into the title box will rename the widget. Bottom left you should see "change" or "remove"

    Denis,

Just upgraded to 5.5 about 3 hours ago. I'm seeing some Template weirdness. On the Home page, the Title is in a much smaller font and a different color. On any individual post page it shows up correctly.

    Home: http://hypnosismarketingtips.com

    Post page: http://hypnosismarketingtips.com/resources

I'm using the Color Block Blue by Techie Coach.

    Thanks,

hmm, i cant get the silo widget to work.

I created two pages, enabled everything in the widget, it just doesn't show up in the sidebar, sort of like the old footer issue.

    The pages widget does work.

@ shokthx: should be fixed in beta-10.

personally, I mostly see the tag cloud widget as something a 404 page, e.g. www.semiologic.com/404-test/ (I've yet to enter any tags, but it's in there). in that location (the 404 error panel), it'll also show when a search returns nothing, e.g. www.semiologic.com?s=jwieojfew

another good usage for it could be as an inline widget in an archives page, e.g. www.semiologic.com/archives (it's not present, but it could be reasonably added)

in any event, it's one of the built-in WP widgets, and I'm a little nervous to try to override it in this version. you could readily add more of them you could readily download a tag clouds widget from the plugin database.

@E. J.: can you elaborate please, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. also, which browser are you using?

@Craig: good catch. fix coming right up

@Paul: use in a static page. here's what the silo map outputs: http://www.semiologic.com/site-map/. when I'll bother to enter a description, each item will have a few lines to say what it's about. the main difference with the pages widget is that this one uses the exclude option shared by other widgets.
