    Hi,

    How do you use an inline widget. What is the code that needs to be entered. I want to use the silo sitemap widget on a page.

    How does the silo stub work and how do you use?

    The inline widgets can be organized under design/widgets chose inline from the drop down menu.
    When writing a page, in the editor there is a button that allows you to pick which inline widget to use, the silo stub and silo sitemap should already be placed in there be default ( I think).

    Denis,

    After upgrading to rc3, I have the following errors:

    Using IE7, I still get the error warning lower left corner, image attached, and in FF using Firebug, I get a related error message, that error is attached.

    Using IE7 and FF, in the Bookmark button still pushes off the screen when in the right widget, any way to make this stay on the screen?

    In FF only, the Subscribe button opens transparent and even under the Bookmark button, rather than on top of everything.

    By the way Denis, once you add an image to this forum, you can't delete it when in edit mode of your post.

    Hi,

    I have created a site map page using the inline widget. This page appears before all my other pages although i have tried to re-order the pages. The order appears correct when i go to manage pages but when viewing site the pages show site map 1st.

    I just downloaded 5.5 RC and am having trouble with the editor. In the html mode all the editing icons appear, but in the 'visual' display the icons are not showing up. Also I can't add an image from my computer (I get a red HTTP error), but I can add from the URL from the server.
    I did clear my cache, but it didn't make any difference with the editor.

    edit the page, right under the title should the full url along with an edit link for the slug.

    I dont see no slug under the title or full url. Is their some feature i have to turn on or activate some plugin?

    @viper1 You will need to make a title and then start to edit in the editing window. The permalink or slug will then appear just under the title and just above the editor.

    @Tami Have you tried reuploading the files for the editor? I think Denis told someone else to try that somewhere in the RC posts and it worked.

    Denis,

    Don't know if its a Sem 5.5 issue or editor issue, but after you insert a picture (I used a gif) you cannot change its alignment or spacing values after its been declared the first time. The only work around I've found is deleting the pic and re-declaring what I wanted.

    Robert - I think Denis got this one in RC3. Otherwise, you can use the add image option (not the media one) in the editor to change image alignment.

    Ok on this error >>>On the 5.5 RC2 my site breaks in IE6 where the external sidebar goes below the sidebar. I have 3 column layout main-sidebar-ext sidebar. Did not happen until upgrade <<<

    It was actually header graphic, so I need to re-size it for the layout I want to use. Not sure if this a bug or by design. Never had to worry about it before.

    Now to figure out why the sites do not validate I had opened a separate thread on this but no response yet

    I'm on 5.5 RC 3

    It won't allow me to select the Improved Search feature under WP Tweaks. I check the box and the click on save. It saves and refreshes- box is returns to unchecked status.

    I can activate other features, although I haven't tried them all.

    Seems something isnt right.

    I created two test pages and after saving them the edit slug area did appear, it is suppose to appear after you write the title.

    I was not able to edit the slugs of your existing pages.

    When going thru your settings @ setting - cache I got this error message.

    Cache Error

    To work, the cache needs to be able to modify a file and a folder:

    * /wp-config.php (chmod 666), to turn the cache on or off
    * /wp-content/ (chmod 777), to actually use the cache

    Please give write access to the server accordingly.

    Your file permissions should be
    media 777
    wp-content 777
    .htaccess 666
    wp-config.php 666

    regarding your permalink structure /%category%/%post-name%.htm , why isnt postname one word?

    Not even to the 2 pages i created?

    I just log'd back in and I attached a snapshot of a page you created the edit slug area is there right under the title.

    Try cleaning your cache, cookies and restarting your comp

    And enter and save your api.

    How many instances can we use a widget, specifically the link widget.

    Is it unlimited or are there a set number of times it can be used?

    @Mike the original size of the header was 972x67 since I was at work I just deleted it...when I got home and I added a smaller header 770x53 it still breaks in IE 6

    No Header no breakee!

    Went to clone Site A to Site B. Got success message. Went to site B, no settings had been applied, was still all at the default. Went back to Site A, it had lost all it's settings and was back at the default as well. I'm using Semiologic Pro v.5.5 RC-3.

    I log'd back into to your site, the edit slug feature works like it should when writing a post.
    But when writing a page the page needs to be saved first, then the slug url appears and you can edit it.

    I thought maybe the cache was causing you problems so I deactivated the plugin.

    I'm not sure where else to go from here, were going to need Denis or Mike's input.

    This has been an issue for a while (previous versions of Sem-Pro as well).

    If you create a web hyperlink the text becomes blue and underlined which is great as a default, but you should be able to override the color of the hyperlink with the editor (fck or tini mice or whatever), but it does not happen, it just stays blue and underlined.

    If you create a regular html page outside of sem pro you can override this color by using text editors.

    If this is a sem-pro issue it would be fantastic to see it resolved in the next rc.

    It is easy to specify the hyperlink color, the mouseover color and whether it is underlined or not by using a custom.css file.

    @ Larry - thanks

    Regarding the Footer Nav menu, SP 5.5 doesn't seem to allow us to add more than one footer nav menu, which would allow us to declare different nav menus (pages, posts, home page, etc. etc.) or multiple nav menus if required. Not sure if you consider this an bug, feature request or not an option due to some specific reason.

    Hi Denis,

    The previous two bugs I posted seem to be fixed in the latest rev. (Title size wrong and Not getting article title in feedblitz).

    I just noticed something new. I was checking my Google analytics data, since I posted a new video to my blog this week. Seems I'm getting virtually no data since the upgrade. I'm using the new ga.js script, and google says it's receiving data, but I'm showing virtually zero traffic on Google and hundreds of visits a day in my logs.

    I wouldn't post this as a bug, except you can see the traffic drop to zero on the day I upgraded. (see attached images). Analytics goes to zero, but two different stats programs show my traffic increase towards the end of April.

    Any ideas???

    Is this a SP error?:

    Since upgrading to 5.5 (RC3), I have to approve every comment before it posts, even if the poster is previously approved. I even have to approve my own comments. It's a royal pain. I want to only have to approve the first comment from any given person. And of course I don't want to have to approve my own.

    In Discussion Settings there are 3 check boxes next to "Before a comment appears". I have unchecked the box next to "An administrator must always approve the comment". And I have checked the box next to "Comment author must have a previously approved comment".

    This ( http://forum.semiologic.com/discussion/4026/2/semiologic-55-sneak-peek--bug-hunt/#Item_28 )happened again. I'm not able to clone sites at all, settings do not transfer and the old site losing all customizations. Any help would be appreciated.

    With each revision of 5.5 I have consistently had a problem with the Links Widget from Denis. The Links Widget will not "stick" when saved in the widgets screen. When I turn off the Links Widget (from Denis) and use the Links Widget from Wordpress the widget "sticks" and works correctly.

    To add to the mystery, this happens to just one out of several blogs I have.

    Mike, regarding the different footer nav menus. ie pages might have contact_us slugs, but not 404 error page, posts might have an faq link but not pages, or even certain special pages might have affiliate slugs but not on general pages or blog itself.

    Is there a bug in the footer boxes or is there an issue with me understanding how it is formatted? It seems that when I add a text widget to a footer box the text wraps at about 2 inches wide instead of the width of the blog. Can someone check or advise me about how they are formatted.

    Please note: Header boxes seem to wrap at about 2 inches wide as well.

    If I add a text widget after the entries and want it only on the home page and save it with only the home page box checked, it still adds the entry to every page of the blog and not just the home page. If it makes any difference I placed above Previous/Next widget.

    Let me know...

    I believe the header and footer boxes are formated to be 2 or 3 widgets wide (like the popular look you see on many blogs). I don't think they are supposed to be full width.

    5.5 rc 3

    NO SIDEBAR CONTENT/WIDGETS, except on individual posts.

    What's crazy about this, is that I installed TWO brand new blog (5.5. rc3) following the exact same steps. But the second installation of 5.5 rc 3 has been wacky all the way

    Both installs on the same server. Both installs new blogs (not upgrading over an existing blog).

    The first blog install of 5.5 rc 3 is working just great. Can see no issues to report.

    But the SECOND install has had issues with html editor NOT going back to wysywyg when clicked, widgets flying around and losing their content (lol), and NOW this issue with NO sidebar content on the home page.

    I'm NOT using silo structure - AM using categories (widget set to show hierarchy).

    any ideas? I can post URLS of both these new 5.5 installs if needed.

    Possible problems with second installation

    Corrupt upload of some of the files

    Is the sidebar missing, or has it dropped below the content? If it has dropped, it may indicate an html error in a post which could be related to the editor acting flaky, and also be part of the corrupt upload issue.

    I would suggest that you just reload the whole SL package, particularly when you know that the host meets minimum requirements. Also be sure to verify and correct file permissions

    The sidebars are missing ONLY on the home page. Not just pushed down toward the bottom of page, which is usually an indication that a recent post has a formatting issue - But just totally MISSING entirely from the home page.

    The sidebars and widgets within them on Individual posts show totally as normal.

    Permissions are set properly AND identical to the other 'twin' installation that is working fine.

    I guess I have to suspect THIS install has a corrupt file or something... so I'm going to delete and do a brand new install later today. Hopefully that will result in a fully working new sem pro blog - a healthy new-born with all its fingers and toes intact and wiggling ;-)

    I think this is a bug, I'm using the opt in front page plugin and /category/blog/ is getting indexed.

    I have also renamed the category and tags base.

    5.5 RC3 on powervps.com

    Kill/Keep WWW not working.

    Use to be there was a plugin called this, once activated it would keep your preference in the setting of exactly how you called your site. If you called it without the www, then entering the domain WITH the www would redirect you to the site WITHOUT the www. If you called it with the www, then entering the domain WITHOUT the www would redirect you to the site WITH the www.

    Now there is no longer a plugin called this, I assumed that what setting you placed in there for your site would be upheld.

    Problem is, if you have it set with the www in settings and you go to the site without the www, it takes you there, it does not redirect to the site with the www there.

    Hopefully this is not the correct behavior.
