I have the same problem, same 777 permissions, when trying to upload an mp3 audio using the buttons (tried both Add media:Add audio and Add media:Add media buttons) at the top of the editor.

Perhaps related: by scrolling down the edit page to the mediacaster section, upload and then save changes a couple of times, eventually got the audio player on the page.

Can you upload the attached media.php to /wp-admin/includes to see if the problem is fixed?

I think you found a bug that will be fixed in wp 2.5.2.

Same problem, but I don't have the luxury of using ftp. I created a blog for a client who is anything but technical. It's hard enough for her to click on the "Add an Image" icon - even that confuses her.

I really do need this problem fixed as soon as possible. As it is, she can't add any images to her blog!!

Your new media.txt file doesn't work, either. It displays at the top of the page with the Upload function completely cut off.

    Thanks, Sid
