   Using the add media button to search my HD to add an image.
   
   Have tried adding jpg, png, gif images etc.
   
   Doesn't matter what I try, it "always' comes back with a HTTP ERROR
   
   Is this a bug?

   Not a SP bug, it's host related. Not exactly positive on the exact details but it has to do with how some hosts handle chmrod 777.
   
   I have this issue with blogs at hostgator, but everything works fine at dreamhost.
   
   You may want to look into this plugin
