I want to make an internal page, which can be a static page if need be, an opt-in squeeze page. How do I do this?
I don't want to have an opt-in for my whole blog which will be ranked instead of my main blog but I do want to capture visitors and opt them in when they go to my review page where I will have a series of reviews on products. The review page will be across the top below my header, not on the nav bar.
Additional question - I haven't published these pages yet so they only show up under Manage>Pages but if I have a Review page with a Squeeze opt-in page nested under it and then all my review pages nested under the squeeze page opt-in page when I do publish would anyone be able to see and access my review pages without going through my squeeze and opting in? Or would this arrangement make it so that they will have to opt-in to access my reviews?
Sorry if this seems obvious, but I don't want to start publishing until I have this worked out because I am assuming that once it's published I can't change it. I will be using getresponse for my contact management.
Leew Put the html code for your getresponse subscribe form into a text widget. Put the text widget wherever you choose. I put mine in the sidebar, high on the right as Denis recommends.
I have not yet got to grips with the details of all the new functionality but am getting the impression that you can turn widgets on/off for individual pages.
The optin in will go to the list you create for it so if you just want it to be applicable to the individual page then you need to to create a list for that page.
Couple more questions: I want to have the subscribe form (opt-in) on the page that precedes the review section so when a new visitor goes to the review static page they will be forced to opt-in to get to that page and I can accomplish this with the text widget with my opt-in code in it?
And second, once they have opted-in and visit the review section, go away, come back and select the review page again are they going to be presented with the opt-in page again or will getresponse or semiologic know they are a subscriber now? I may just have to try it to find out.
Leew Sorry, I misunderstood you slightly. I was describing a simple optin form adjacent to some content.
If you want a real squeeze page then you will need to put the optin form html code into a static page. Make your thankyou page another static page with your continuing content and list the page number as 'not visible' in the page setup so it can only be found by going through the squeeze page.
It used to be that you would Upload Content from File which made WP ignore the html code. Unfortunately, I have now lost this function in the new layout and am looking for it myself!
I'm sure there will be someone along shortly who is more knowledgeable than I am. It's rather like standing next to your broken down car by the side of the road hoping that some nice neighbour will come along soon!
