    Hello all,

I've installed Wordpress & Semiologic free several times without any problems. However, on this occasion I have installed Wordpress into a subfolder:
    http//www.sitename.com/subfoldername/

When I upoad the Semiologic files and then try to select the theme my browser (Firefox) hangs.

    - I have downloaded and reuploaded the Semiologic files to my server.
    - I have checked folder permissions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Installed properly, Semiologic works equally well whether in the root directory of a domain, in a subdomain, or in a subfolder as you have done.

    The key word is properly.

If your host has Fantastico in its cPanel, use that to install WordPress and then upload the free Semiologic theme into the theme folder. Be sure that the versions of WordPress and Semiologic are compatable. WP 2.51. Sem 5.5-rc3.

    Hey there,

Thanks for your reply. I thought I'd try to install Wordpress in a subfolder on another server to see if that works.

But I'm having the same problem again, which is Wordpress installs and runs fine, but when I install Semiologic the site hangs.

Am I doing something obviously wrong?

    Thanks

Have you checked your server suitability for SLP?

Did you use Fantastico to install WP?

I think that the problem is a version incompatability. If you are installing wordPress using Fantastico, the WordPress version is probably 2.5 or 2.5.1. Check this.

The version of Semiologic should be 5.5 something. I don't know whether this has been released in the free version or not. But if you are using the 5.0 version, it will not work with WordPress 2.5

If you have used these same versions on a domain and everything works, but doesn't work in a subfolder, it would be due to operator error. Recheck your installation? Semiologic downloaded into the theme folder?

    Hello all,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to look at this problem.

My server unforntunately doesn't have the facility to use Fantastico.

    # Bravos: "Have you checked your server suitability for SLP?" - I'm not sure what you mean by this?

I'm not sure Semiologic version I'm using because it's not indicate anywhere but I'm definately using the latest release of WordPress (2.5.1).

    I'll try a few tests:
    - using an earlier release of WordPress, such as 2.3
    - installing in the root of a domain using the current releases

    Thanks
