    Hi all.

I bought Semiologic pro several months ago and used it for a couple of sites and have had to take a bit of time to get used to it.

Since that time, there has now been an upgrade to Wordpress as well as SP and I now need to know what I do now that I want a new site. Do I upgrade SP and if so from where? Do I follows the simple instructions using Fantastico's Wordpress installation on cPanel? Basically, what do I need and are the instructions the same?

Can you make the instructions idiot proof pls!

    Many Thanks

    Martin

    Martin,

If I was going to make a new site, and I have recently, I would start with WP 2.5.1 and Sem Pro 5.5 rc3. First of all, if you use Fantastico, WP 2.5.1 is likely the version you are going to get. Secondly, if somehow you are able to install a pre WP 2.5 blog so you can use a latest stable version of Sem Pro, then at some moment you upgrade to the latest WP when a final release of Sem Pro 5.5 is released, there will be a lot of changes to your site.

Sem Pro 5.5 RC3 has much work to be done with it, there are quite a number of bugs, read through the bug hunt thread. But what I am doing is keeping any sites I build with it without some of the plugins that are not working correctly or staying away from some some of the functionality that needs improvement.

When is 5.5 ging to be stable? THAT is the million dollar question around these parts. We have not seen Denis for pushing 6 weeks. We hope he returns soon but have no idea when that will happen.

So if you follow my advice, use Fantastico to install wordpress to your site than grab Sem Pro 5.5 RC3 and unzip it and then upload all your files right no top of your wordpress installation. That should do the trick.
