Are there any instructions given on the Semiologic website on how to place, move and deal with the ad units system? I want to use Adsense on my blogs but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do it properly. I saw a few blog posts from Oct 2007 and before that referred to Ad Spaces which redirects to an Ad Manager link which just says "Coming soon.'
So I guess it's now a matter of trial and error but I would think there should be more clear cut instructions on using Adsense with Semiologic as I'm sure a lot of people use it.
How to set in and manage your ads will depend on what version of Semiologic Pro you are using.
If you are using v 5.5 rc3 (latest version) ...
Ads are set into your pages by going to >Design >Widgets
Then by selecting WHAT area of the page you want to place the ad, from the drop-down menu on right side (choose, and click 'show').
Then just simply click to add a 'text' widget or 'Ad' widget from the pile of various widgets on the left.
Click SAVE, to save the widget into the list on the right.
Now, you can MOVE your newly added widget into the ORDER you want it to appear. Click SAVE again.
Then open up the widget and edit in your actual advertisement.
Click 'change' at bottom of widget window when you're done putting your ad into the widget edit window. Widget edit window then closes. Then click SAVE one last time.
Yeah... I know... there's a lot of 'SAVES'. But if you don't save after each incremental change, it's lost and you must start over.
Deb.
ps. Post what version Sem Pro you're using, if it's not the latest 5.5 rc3
Your advice helped me and with some more searching in the forum I ended up using a text widget and placed an aweber box on my blog.
Now I'm trying to figure out how and where to place the Google Analytics code. I tried but Google doesn't see it installed. The directions on the website on how to do this are terrible so I will search in the forum. I have the latest version.
Thanks. I made another post in the forum after this one and Mike told me to do the same thing you mentioned above. It worked and I'm a happy camper now.
