Got a fatal error when trying to Activate the Sidebar widget.
    See the attached screenshot.

Not critical - I just wanted to see what it does.

It sounds like the \wp-content\plugins\widgets didn't get uploaded correctly.

Which exact plugin are you trying to activate when you get that error? And what version of semi?

There shouldnt be a line 42 @ plugins/widgets/widgets.php if using the latest version of semi.

Well, time passes and widgets come and go.
This one can no longer be found -so I presume has been superceded.

I shall stop worrying about it.

    Hi,
I use "wordpress" since version 1.5.
In 2006, I happened to WP version 2.0.2.
On Wordpress.og, I discovered the existence of "Semiologic - free sem theme"!
I downloaded and adapted to my need.
Currently, I wish to migrate to WP 2.6 and it was not my surprise to discover the removal of archives and the abolition of the free version.
I think this is not a correct attitude on the part of a developer who benefited freely return to experience a multitude of test in which he would have been very difficult to reach there on it is today. I speak of course Denis.
In addition Wordpress is free and it is thanks to this free thousands of developers there is progress.
In short, I find this attitude well pitiful. Well the downside and that this way of doing things most users of the free version is purely and simply abandoned. In addition Denis deprives itself of free publicity on Wordpress.org.
[some research using the proper criteria allows more week to find pro ... That leads the "pingrerie" or some ...]

-> [ Finally, I do not give up easily to a topic that I put a lot of energy and time for the "françiser" and to adapt it to my colors.
The version that I use and semiologic free v 3.2.1.
This version is a no compatible source with widget.
But as source code is expected to run on Wordpress, I just lose a little energy and time on the Net to search the right informations allowing me to make my theme widget compatible.
To do so, I added the function: functions.php and I changed the code in sidebar.php. Then I changed my CSS files and the case is in the bag.
For now the sem-theme v3.2.1 and WP2006 is a BETA test at home in local but in the course of next week, I will bring it into line ...

[Original version : Fench ... for Denis ]
    @Denis
    Salut,

My first reaction to your post was one of indignation. Why, I thought, would anyone who had used a product for three years without participating in the forums and sharing his success with the product suddenly feel compelled to complain when the product was no longer available.

I then realized that this could become the basis for perhaps one of the finest sales pitches ever, akin to the car manufacturer that boasted that 90% of the cars that they had ever built were still on the road. Just to learn that someone is still using Semiologic 3.2.1 and receiving value from it, is testament to the importance placed on the power of the product.

So, instead of indignation, I offer a proposal. Why not trade your input of time and energy attempting to duplicate the features already available in the pro version for the dollars or euros required to own the real thing?

Certainly your ability to find and adapt different plugins to achieve this measure of success would be an asset to our forum.

    Hi,
I'm not even surprised by your answer Larry ...
How, indeed, it would have been different ...
We do not have the same conception of the world, simply ...
When I go to the dentist because I can not only treat ... Others have responded is to control, treat a toothache or aesthetic concerns.
I have not complained about the quality of the product but rather the lack of availability of spare parts for older models ... ;-)
Well maybe you are rich enough to change the car whenever it has failed?
For me, 300 U.S. Dollars this is not pennies ...
And unlike others who come to this forum, I did not trade website running on Wordpress.
I would like to be able to participate here, but I do not have the source code I can not do much ... Do you understand?
Microsoft is developing "Internet Explorer". Mozilla develops "Mozilla Firefox."
which of these products is the best, most friendly, has the most plugins and features?

    Best Regards,

    Fabian

While I have some sympathy with your that your activities with the free version of Semiologic are coming to an end there is another point of view that you should bear in mind.

You appear to be arguing from the point of view of the open source programmer that the open source approach is best and should be the method of all programmers. You have had the benefit of working with Denis' code for some years it would appear and are now upset that this will no longer be available.

However, Denis produced Semiologic as a market product for sale in order to make his income. He provided the free version not as an altruistic contribution to the open source methodology but as an introduction to the paid for product. So people could try before they buy.
That you have had the advantage of that approach has been to your benefit but you should not mis-read it as being the purpose of the offer.

Supporting his Semiologic product has had a serious impact on Denis as you will know from reading other threads in this forum. That support has included the free version and it is clear that what has been free to you has contributed to a very negative impact on Denis. Now that a more objective approach is being taken it is not surprising that the free version, including the resources and effort required to support it, is being removed.

While I sympathize with your statement that $300 is not pennies to you it is perhaps because of your attachment to the the open source concept that your own income is not able to support that expenditure. With the skills that you appear to have why not use them to turn a profit yourself. Indeed, with your liking of Semiologic there is always the possibility that Darrell, now in charge, may have work in the support and development area for someone with your skills.

Perhaps a Whisper to Darrell might be useful to you.

    Best regards
    Bruce
