Crazy thing going on with my latest 5.5 rc3 installation...

No different than a truckload of other 5.5 rc3 installs I've done, on this very same server.

But with this latest install, Auto Social Poster (even though activated) will NOT generally show up in the Settings menu. And, despite setting in the 'Fuzzy Posts' widget into the sidebar... It will NOT show up at all.

My installation and initial setup procedure is completely 'sytematized'... so I KNOW this blog is NO different than at least a dozen other on this server. But, I checked anyway and can find NO additional plugins, feature changes, etc... or anything different for that matter.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Any ideas?

    Help appreciated.

    Yes Larry,

This blog has several posts (13 LIVE, so far) AND I have many (future) posts set up to post out through the beginning of September.

There are other things not working properly on this blog as well.

~ although I have it set to ALWAYS include the 'www' in browser bar, regarless of how it's typed in... its NOT doing that.
~ menu items are MISSING in the > Settings menu bar (auto social poster, in particular)
~ I have the dreaded YELLOW ERROR sign in lower left page
~ Can't upload images because the 'image tool' popup window is way too low on the page and the buttons cannot be reached to be clicked (started a thread on this problem a couple days ago)

I SWEAR I've not done anything different or added anything that I don't add and do with ALL the other 5.5 rc3 installs I have on this server.

This is one of a network of blogs I'm using for traffic generation for clients sites in this niche. I'm reluctant to post the URL, but here it is...

http://hhoproductreviews.com (you'll notice that the 'force www thingy' is NOT working on this blog)

    Thanks

ps. I am going to try one last thing... REupload the software in case maybe a file has gotten corrupted somehow. Can't do that till late this evening.

php.ini is the SAME as included with 5.5 rc3

Although I've NEVER had to use it on any other blog installation on this server.
I HAVE activated it on this one, to see if it would fix it.

This server is a robust VPS - lots of memory, storage, and bandwidth, etc.

    Deb,

This is sounding like a bad ftp upload to me.

whoah... I found the problem with the disappearing Fuzzy Widget. Basically, a 'cockpit' error on my part.

Stayed up till the wee hours last night getting to the bottom of this.

I did a REinstall. Still no 'fuzzy widget' showing up.

So... I started deactivating plugins, etc... Still nuttin.

Then I got to looking through the server error messages and worked down through those..

And I found that I placed my 'widget' for Feedburner tracking code after EACH entry, instead of after all entries, OR in the footer as I normally do. After rearranging THAT, the Fuzzy Widget is working as normal. Yippee.

I still have the yellow triangle page error thing in lower left corner. Isn't there a website that checks your page for coding errors? enter a URL and it will scan the page and tell you IF there are coding errors, and where they are?

    Thanks for your help, guys.

    Deb,

What browser do you use? I use Firefox with the htmltidy plugin loaded. Works awesome when I need to troubleshoot people's sites.

    Deb,

Firebug with the FF browser is great also. Not familiar with what Mike mentioned and have not been able to find it yet either, but Firebug is great also, can find it here:
